* You can usually get a much better price by renting well in advance of your trip, especially if you reserve in a low season and travel in a high season -

* Airfare sites often have very good deals on rental cars--also places like PriceLine and Hotwire (without the kinds of risks involved in using them for airfare or hotel)

* Rent the smallest car you can fit into; sometimes you'll get a free upgrade, and you'll always save on the price

* A full week is often cheaper than five days

* Be careful to coordinate pick-up and return times so as not to be charged for an extra day

* Often, the Collision Damage Waiver is redundant with your regular car insurance. Check before you rent, and save up to $10 per day if you don't need it

* Price several companies; the rates often vary quite a bit

* Ask about AAA, AARP, student, or other discounts

HOW I SPENT FRUGAL FUN DAY

As it happened, my stepfather had a one-man art show and the opening reception was on October 6--International Frugal Fun Day. So, after an hour hiking with my dog on the mountain, I spent two very enjoyable hours at the opening (even cooked some goodies for it), followed by a party at my mother's house. We left the party early to go to a free house concert by a major folk act. total cost zero, but usually I spend the whole day having Frugal Fun; this time I spent the morning cooking and cleaning in case any of my mom's out-of-town friends wanted to see our house. So to make up for it, on Halloween, I had an excellent $5.40 dinner out (a giant and very tasty burrito in the classiest of the local street-food Mexican restaurants) followed by a free one-woman show by a local theater genius, on a college campus (and part o f the fun was seeing college kids in costume). Between these two ends of the month, I did lots of other FREE fun things, including a big fall festival in the country, a knock-your-socks-off piano recital by a 15-year-old prodigy, another concert by my son's oboe teacher and her chamber group, a wonderful Sukkot service with my chavurah, a huge 80th birthday party for my neighbor, a big hike with our environmental group, a reading by two local writers...and that's just the fun free stuff I managed to get to (there was lots more that I couldn't get to).Various sites on vehicles and accessories sites can be found at Online Shopping web directory - Vehicle Transport shipping franchise-Bike Rack Wonderland-
